Samuel Beckett

BIOGRAFIA
Samuel Beckett nasceu em Abril de 1906 no seio de uma família burguesa e protestante irlandesa. Estudou no Trinity College em Dublin Literatura Moderna, tendo-se especializado em italiano e francês.

Em 1931 vai residir para Paris, no entanto após a morte do pai em 1933, regressa à Irlanda para cuidar da mãe. Em 1938 fixa novamente residência em Paris onde conhece Suzanne Deschevaux-Dusmenoil com quem viverá até ao final da vida.

Durante a Segunda Grande Guerra incorpora a resistência Francesa, mas é obrigado a fugir de França em 1942. É a partir do final da guerra que intensifica a escrita, tendo escrito tanto em francês como em inglês.

Em 1969 foi galardoado com o Prémio Nobel de Literatura e faleceu em Paris em 1989.
