RESTAURANT “COZINHA DE SANTO HUMBERTO”
|
How an old vine cellar becomes a top restaurant.
|
|
|
Ideally located on the very heart of Évora,
Cozinha de Santo Humberto has been part of the
city since 1971.
|
|
|
The space was
previously occupied by a wine cellar that
laboured until mid XX century.
The entrance to the restaurant is discrete. From
the outside one can only see a small window
protected by rough iron work and an arched door.
The tell sign is a small tile (azulejo) panel
representing the patron Saint.
The décor is rustic and tasteful. One of the
best features on the décor is the small niches
resulting from the adaptation of the space to
its function as a wine cellar. However, those
who come to Cozinha de Santo Humberto come for
the food and there is a lack of words to
describe what comes out of our kitchen. To taste
is the only way to truly enjoy the knowledge we
learned from our ancestors.
